Encourage YOURself

Saturday, December 22, 2012

Wrapping up 2012 and starting fresh has never seemed so better. I love a new beginning, a second chance to make what you believe in come true. It’s just brings a new joy feeling to me. Sitting here watching  The Little Black Jacket exhibition by Chanel has open up my eyes and made me want to be more active instead of talk and promises. Someday I will be part of a great movement and part of history. Mark my words.

Style Legend/Muse: Bianca Jagger

Friday, December 21, 2012

Nicaraguan-born Studio 54’s Queen, social & human rights advocate, great friend of the late Andy Warhol and former wife of The Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger. She was also a model and a actress. With her Glamour and inner sassy flavor, Bianca became the jet setter and party goer in the 70’s and early 80’s.
Bianca became an activist when she was involved in a accidental incident in Honduras. She was stationed in a refugee camp and saw some soldiers taken away to be killed, with some others, she screamed  “you will have to kill is all”. After seeing the courage of Bianca and others, the soldiers were let go and so was she with her group.
Too Me, Bianca was another upbeat Audrey Hepburn, a woman with style, courage, and love for others. We need more woman like her in this world. A woman with sazz(sassy & jazz) and class, it does not get better than that. She is one of the ladies that influence me on a daily basis, along with Jada-Pinkett Smith, Beyonce Knowles-Carter, and Josephine Baker. My love for this woman, did not come from her reputation, but from her style and grace. You have to appreciate the one’s who you see a little bit of yourself in.

“Mirrors” -  Jhené Aiko

It’s nothing like a dark love affair that involves self examination.  Jhené gives that through her story, the harmony, melody, and lyrics words go perfect together. She portrays the Black Swan, good verses evil. Innocent that turns dark. Reevaluating herself and wondering if her old self can keep up with the new. Listen to the song and watch how everything flows together. And ask yourself, “Am I, my worst critic or enemy? Will I be myself no matter what comes my way? Will I always stay true to myself?”.

I would where this outfit when I’m out and about, trying to find my inner piece. Everyone needs their me time (including men), I’ll go shopping by myself (tip: you’ll find out about yourself, when you shop by yourself, other’s opinion could make or break you), go get a manicure & pedicure and maybe meet upwith someone for lunch or just have it by myself.

Follow Up

Monday, October 29, 2012

To my followers and other reader’s I deeply apologize for my absence. As a transfer to a new school and city, things have been hectic for me. As you can see I slowly stop posting and I really dislike not having the choice be able to express myself the way I really want to. But life goes on, I need to change my outlook on things, as a human I get beside myself. But I will not give up and I am not quitting just because some hurdles and obstacles have been thrown in my lane. I am trying to feed and keep my hunger for this. & I hope patience is on my side, which I know it is. Like I always say, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.” ... So the show will go on.

DIY: Vintage Romper

Monday, August 20, 2012

For a long time, I’ve waited anxiously to do this post. To share my (re)designs. A while back before I moved to Washington, D.C. I decided to make a grand entrance with my own creativity. To show my appreciation for late 80’s and mid 90’s clothing. If you ever saw/heard of A Different World, The Cosby Show, and Martin. You will see my influence in this piece. Since school was starting, I decided to remake a vintage romper that was previously a dress. I love that Lisa Bonet and Poetic Justice feel. It just makes me come alive.

Blooming Sunflower

As you can see, my hair has changed again. (Laughs) I decided to speed up my hair growth process by putting some braids in my hair and have something manageable than would not consume my time. These last couple of weeks I have been finishing my summer classes, getting ready to transfer to another college for good until I graduate, get my Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising. SO focus and determine to have enough credits to transfer, I did not let anything get in my way. So to wrap up summer (yells) I decided that this old remade vintage dress would be perfect for a post.

This has been a long and crazy week. Finishing up my summer classes, preparing to move to another city & state, and growing as a person  has been tough. But my blessings are slowly unfolding before my eyes and they are bettering me as I accept everything. As you can see I changed up my hairstyle again. Gotta keep things fresh, but true.

This week I’ve been feature on two blogs. On Undiscovered Worth, I was mention in one of her videos. She is a very sweet young lady, please go check out her blog and follow. She is the reason, for my post title. So everyone will know how to pronounce my name. On Tus Trucos de Belleza I did my first feature and interview, which I am so thankful for. Thanks again Rebeca, I really appreciate it. So please go follow and check out that blog.

Original interview:

  • What means fashion to you?
To me fashion means art and not just clothing.Oddly, I think most individuals confused it with style.Style is expression, self.Fashion is creativity, giving others a chance to be inspired.
  • When did you decide to open your blog?
A long long time ago.I always wanted to share my love for fashion, style & entertainment.I just never had anyone to encourage me until I saw other bloggers opening up about their blogging experiences.Motivated me to the core.
  • For an afternoon in the city, what type of look do you recommend us?
I would recommend a sleek ensemble that is not revealing and not showing a lot of skin.Which I call the "Teaser".For example, an open chest and back pant romper, that shows curves and keeps everyone guessing.
  • What is your daily routine of beauty?
Wash my face with a face scrub, after I use some exfoliating facial wipes to get rid of the leftover dirt.Next I use a facial toner and light face moisturizer to keep my color and glow.Last comes the make-up.
  • What is your preferred brand?
It depends on what we are talking about, I shop different places for different things.
  •  Who is your favourite designer?
Honestly I have 5 favourites, but Alexander Wang sticks out the most wit me.He is and always will be something I´ll be inspired by.He brought  TomBoy&Sexy back to life with his clothing.
  • What type of makeup do you prefer in a night event?
Something that will not be sticky or rub off easily. So what I used is a MAC Studio Fix powder.
  • Jeans or skirts?
Not to fond of jeans anymore, I only have like 4 pair and most are vintage.Yes to skirts, I have many of those. From the tutu and peek-a-boo leg skirt.I have all.
  • What is your opinion about the nice moment of the fashion bloggers?
I think it´s lovely. To support one another is amazing.Like my mother say, "what you dish out is what you receive".So I appreciate the respect and love.
  • What future projects would you like to participate?
Interacting with other bloggers at events and fashion shows, giving back to others, traveling the world, and working with a fashion company that can help me, help myself and shape my journey on becoming a great fashion designer.

“Liquorice” - Azealia Banks
Now to some, you might have heard of Azealia Banks or saw her pictures on tumblr or on some famous random blog. Azealia music is combine with hip-hop, pop, and little bit techno. She has an mix-tape “Fantasea" out. But I had to feature this video on my blog. Coming from her EP “1991”. I am highly addicted to her sound and style. She definitely is a classic no doubt. I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us. Classy and hood is what she gives. If she ever goes mainstream, I hope she stays the same but adapt the best along the way. In this video she speaks hardcore and gives a lot of sass. I love a great story teller. My type of crew chick. Enjoy the video!

Building My Empire

Friday, July 13, 2012

I just realized how much I must put in work for things I love. Like my blog. As soon as I was just starting to gain followers at my old my link and make progress, I had to switch to another link because the one that I purchase was broken. It’s so hard to maintain a site or blog. But I do know one thing, I am never EVER giving up. I love expressing myself and sharing my world with others. So who ever comes along my blog... I just want to say Thank You from the bottom of my heart and come over and over again. I like interacting with the world, so please do not hesitate to follow, comment, or link up.

Love is patient, Love is kind

Sunday, July 01, 2012

It’s amazing how God works in mysterious ways. It can be through a song, letter, conversation, or anything that has life. All summer long I’ve received confirmation from my heavenly father; all I can say at the end of everything is Thank You and I appreciate you and my saviour Jesus Christ for every little/big thing that you do. I’m not perfect and I don’t want to pretend to, all that comes from within comes from up above. Pure love and gratefulness.

Tom Has Fallen

Leather sandals and midriff tops with honey suckle shaved ice cones. Me and buddies would run in and out of the sun; ducking from the rays that would give us a tan. (Inhales & exhales) It’s nothing like my summer memories with that old bumping type of music that R&B (Rhythm & Blues) has brought. Since Fall is getting closer and Summer is leaving; certain inspiration has given me ideas of how I want to transform my clothing. Keeping it cool and relaxed but with deep colors. Living in Florida, deep and darks colors are unwelcome. Around my way it’s a challenge known to man; that is why you see so many bright pastels colors on Floridans. This summer, I wanted to prove that I can still rock dark bold colors while it’s still hot and not sweat.

Back to Black

Wednesday, June 27, 2012

As you can see my hair is black to black again. Now don’t get me wrong I love my growing pixie, but it’s just not giving the mood that I’m portraying (giggles). So I had to go back to extensions. But other than that, today has been lovely. I received my Howard University new students package today. (Jumping inside) It talks about our past, future, locations, and what to expect period. I love how the college is so historic and profound. I’m so nervous about transferring to a new school and location, but it’s a good nervous feeling though. I just want everything to go smoothly, I know God will make everything ok. So I’m not worried at all. I’m just ready!

Style Muse: Christine Centenera

Friday, June 22, 2012

(VIA:CAROLINESMODE,VANESSA JACKMAN,WIKIFASHION)
There are a few ladies in this world, who’s style I admire and never ever get bored of. Meet Christine Centenera, a freelance stylist(Kanye’s own) & the fashion editor of Harper’s Bazaar in Australia. Christine's Feminine-Tomboy ways makes her style very biased in a inspiring way. I use to think that I couldn’t be a grown mature lady who could have a masculine sense about herself. But now that I’ve been introduced to this outside box of thinking. I can go beyond and keep it classy.
